On Sunday November 9, 2008 the Newfoundland & Labrador Amateur Bodybuilding Association (NLABBA) AGM was held at the Track and Field Complex in Mt Pearl, NL at which time an election was held. The election results are as follows:
President: Mike Newhook
Vice President: Zack Howard
Secretary: Doug (Croft) Halliday
Treasurer: Kimberly Puddester
Marketing Rep: Jill Newhook (non-electoral position)
Although Andy Pratt (former President) and Lee Hayward (former Treasurer/Secretary) stepped down as active members of the executive, they both expressed interest to support the new executive and helping out with the organization of future events. Andy and Lee have contributed significantly as active members of the executive over the last few years and proved invaluable to the Association.
The first meeting of the new Executive was held November 18, 2008 at which time Rob King, Co-owner of the HWC, was also in attendance. After much discussion around the feasibility of a provincially hosted CBBF qualifying show and a sanctioned Heavyweights Classic show in the same calendar year, it was decided that it would be in the best interest of the NLABBA, the Heavyweights Classic promoters, the competitors and spectators to combine both events. We are confident that by working in collaboration with the Heavyweights Classic promoters to combine our resources we have the capability to produce a better quality event and the largest Bodybuilding & Figure competition in the history of the province.
The NLABBA is pleased to announce that The Heavyweights Classic will proudly promote the Newfoundland & Labrador Amateur Bodybuilding and Figure competition on November 21, 2009 at the Holy Heart Theatre.
The NLABBA looks forward to working closely with Rob King and Fraser Senciall to produce a memorable and quality event.
