Darlene Newell is a 39 year old registered nurse, married with 2 children ages 8 and 20. She started seriously training about 4 years ago. Initially joined a gym because of being very overweight. During the process of losing a large amount of weight, she had discovered that she loved lifting and became very interested in bodybuilding. Darlene has competed in her first competition December 2004 - The Heavyweights Classic. Placed first in the woman's HW division. She also competed in the NLABBA BB and Figure championships as the only Woman's HW competitor, and the 2005 HWC placing 3rd in the HW division.
